Arena di Serdica is a classic-style hotel: it has a quiet atmosphere, an antique design, and some ancient roman ruins embedded in the basement (the name "Arena" should come from this, I suppose). The location is central, the rooms have large windows and are clean. The bathrooms are quite spacious and have all the accessories needed. The breakfast is the usual continental one. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here!
Very Nice Hotel in a superb location

In order to have a twin room you need to book an executive room, this also gives you free access to the spa. The rooms were nice but on the Saturday evening music from a local club kept me awake until the early hours.
The check in process was not great, we were unable to access our room until 3.00 pm. Check in is at 2.00 pm. Those with a double room get superking bed with a double duvet so make sure you ask for an extra duvet.
Breakfast was very good and varied.
Great products in the room.

I've stayed in this hotel a couple of times during business trips and it was really nice. The hotel is very pretty and well appointed. The staff was very accommodating. The room is spacious and with bath which is very relaxing after a busy day, I love the toiletries as they have l'occitane toiletries, very nice touch. this is conveniently located, very close to restaurants and other establishments. They also have a spa but didn't get to try that. Breakfast offers a lot of options, I love the natural honey that they serve.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to people visiting sofia.

Hotel is nice, staff is very friendly, and location is Ok near Alexander N. Cathedral and not far from shops and restaurants in Vitosha Blvd. A little outdated for my taste but still nice. Food needs improvement though.
Nice Property, but Room for Improvement

Nice hotel in terms of: the ruins, the hospitable staff (Ruslan), and breakfast with Lavazza espresso (great breakfast and quality espresso)
Room for improvement: In terms of a five star property, one expects that there is a certain level of service and service provision.
One should receive water on a daily basis in one's room, one should be able to get room service without paying a 20% fee, one should be able to use the spa area (meaning the sauna and steam rooms), and one should be able to use an iron free of charge.
We were perturbed by not having these services/items available to us, so they kindly sent us a bottle of wine. This was a lovely surprise and it was on the birthday of one of my colleagues. At the same time, I am purely listing above the basic necessities that one expects at a five star rather than including even additional areas where they could improve. I hope to return and see the change!
